And here we go!!!

The competition season has officially begun. Excited and nervous as usual.  A prop broke the first day, haha!  Other than that everything is off to a smooth start.

My girls this year are even better.  The skill level from the all the ballet is definitely starting to show and I hope the judges notice. Good luck and try your best everyone.

I’ll update the blog about how we did tomorrow.

Love ya all!

A New Season for Dance

In case you haven’t heard it is now 2012!  We have opened our studio to student enrollment starting Monday January 7, 2012.  You can come into the studio, call us on the phone (702.809.0097) or enroll on our website (www.CSDALasVegas.com).

CSDA is more excited than ever to break through this year with fresh ideas and stronger dance training.  As a newer studio to the Las Vegas Valley we have been working hard over the past 4 years to improve and suit the needs of a more rounded group of parents and students.

In the spirit of the season we have put together a few New Years Resolutions.

1.  Interact more with the parents, with the intention of improvement from a feedback basis.  This will include Facebook Surveys, Email and Parent Teacher meetings.

2. Student report cards, with the intention of a more personal attention towards or recreational dancers.

3. A picture and profile of every dancer at our studio on our website.  With parent approval of course.

4. Recycling bins at the studio.

We are also shooting around the idea of monthly freeroll poker tournament for parents hosted at the studio.  Prizes would include gift certificates for dance at CSDA.  Let us know what you think!

Well that’s all folks.  We are so excited to have all of you back for the New Year!

See you at the studio

Something New

So here it goes, an attempt at reciting some of the “behind the scenes” events that take place at the studio.  You can expect to read ramblings related to but not restricted to costume vendors, competition enrollment issues, choreography, dance history, theatre production, prop building, awesome parents, amazing students and just about every other little mundane thing that may peak my curiosity or leave me shaking my head.  This blog is not here to sugar coat anything or to sell a product, it is only here to round out the edges, so to say, or to add a touch of comic relief to what can be a somewhat stressful balancing of emotions.

In the end, I hope that this blog will help add a little depth and personality to, what may seem to some, just another business.  Dance studios over time seem to take on a life of there own and are most definitely chalked full of the little triumphs and tragedies that make it unique.  The group of students, teachers and parents that make CSDA a whole have been nothing but the best and I couldn’t be happier every time I walk through the front door of the studio.  I only hope that I can live up to all of your expectations and continue to build a long healthy relationship with each and everyone of you.

So now that we have that out of the way, lets blog!

Today I finished one of my favorite projects, costume orders.  The scent of dance catalogues and order forms is a love hate relationship for me.  The browsing through and looking for inspiration part I love, but the cross referencing of measurements to each vendors individual sizing charts, yea, not so much.  Why is it that even though I have checked the measurements at least twice I still feel nervous calling the final order.  Must be an OCD behavior.

I am really happy with all the costume choices this year and I can’t wait to see them bring the choreography to life.  It always starts to sink in after costume orders that the competition season is rapidly approaching and before you know it we are neck deep in producing the annual dance show.

So, other than starting a new blog and finishing costume orders, it was a pretty average day.  The rest of it will be spent in bed on my iphone playing Words with Friends and watching Sex in the City reruns.

Best Wishes, Miss Janet
